Losing weight can be a lonely battle. And we mean, BATTLE! But it doesn’t have to be. At Momentum, where you are already surrounded by encouraging and inspirational women, our Take It Off Weight Loss program knows that accountability and having someone in your corner can make all the difference in the world when trying to lose weight. The Take It Off Weight Loss program lasts 12 weeks and focuses on the quantity, quality and timing of the food you are eating. That’s right – you can eat! We’ve all been there before; trapped in the cycle of: deprive… deprive… splurge! And that is definitely not the recommended method to see lasting results. The Take It Off program is all about learning what you can and should be eating and how your exercise and other habits are all working for you to watch the pounds melt away.
Most participants see 1.5-2 pounds dropped each week for an average weight loss overall of 20 pounds. Can you picture your body and life three months from now if you were to lose 20 pounds? As part of the program, participants meet each week with their coach to go through their food journal from the prior week and weigh-in. Your coach will then sit with you and access your progress and recommend adjustments to keep you on track. It’s personal. It’s about relationship and accountability. It’s about NOT being alone.
Speaking of not being alone, some women feel apprehensive about starting a new weight loss program because of the potential affects it will have on their family. Will you have to cook two dinners each night? Will your grocery bill double? These are all valid questions and a great discussion to have with your coach at the first consultation appointment. The program itself is actually quite easy to follow. You’ll be provided with recipes and educational handouts that will help you utilize what you already have in your pantry and what you are already buying regularly through color-coded plans to minimize additional expenses.
Our advice to women who have these concerns is to bring their families with them! (metaphorically speaking, of course). You might be amazed at the dietary changes your partner and children will welcome without argument. And who knows, maybe your nine-year-old PREFERS broccoli to corn and you just don’t know it yet. The tweaks and guidelines that you learn for your own health can also be wonderful changes for your entire family. You won’t know until you try.
